Advisory committee for Part VI EPA 1990 s. 124
EPA 1990 s. 124 requires the Secretary of State to appoint an advisory committee for Part VI functions, consents, and regulations, paid with Treasury approval.
The Secretary of State shall appoint a committee to provide him with advice— on the exercise of his powers under sections 111, 112 and 113 above; on the exercise of any power under this Part to make regulations; and on such other matters concerning his functions under this Part as he may from time to time direct. For other functions of the committee, see Part 2 of the Genetic Technology (Precision Breeding) Act 2023. The chairman and other members of the committee shall hold and vacate office in accordance with the terms of their appointment. The Secretary of State shall pay to the members of the committee such remuneration (if any) and such allowances as he may, with the consent of the Treasury, determine.

What it actually says
Section 124 requires the Secretary of State to appoint an advisory committee to give advice on carrying out functions under Part VI of the Act. This includes advising on powers under sections 111, 112, and 113, as well as advice on making regulations under Part VI.
The committee must also advise on any other Part VI matters specified by the Secretary of State. Further functions are conferred on this advisory body by Part 2 of the Genetic Technology (Precision Breeding) Act 2023.
Members and the chairman hold and leave office according to their terms of appointment. The Secretary of State sets any remuneration and allowances paid to committee members, subject to consent from the Treasury.
